Stop Killing Our Children!
So, after reading my title, you may be asking yourself, "Who is killing our children?" or "How are we killing our children?". The answer, America, is staring us all in the face: obesity. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't hate overweight people. I don't think they're any less than thin people. I don't think that they're bad people. I simply think that they are unhealthy and slowly killing themselves. So don't get all puffed up and call me a 'Hater', cuz I'm not. But please, listen to what I have to say. Our bad habits are being put onto our children. There is nothing that makes me more mad than when I'm at a store and see an overweight child, and then I see their parent who is also overweight. That parent is teaching their child to be unhealthy, teaching them bad eating habits. Taking away that child's self esteem. Because, like it or not, children that are overweight are made fun of. I don't think it's right, it makes me mad that they are made fun of, but that doesn't stop it from being true. Remember a good thirty years ago when it was rare to see an overweight child? When children were active instead of lethargic? When food wasn't the world to them? But now it seems that the majority of children are overweight, or even obese. It breaks my heart to see a child panting like there's no tomorrow because they tried running, or walking up some stairs. Is this fair to our children? No. Not at all. How is it fair to take away their childhood? They can't play like children normally would. They are already feeling bad about themselves before even being teenagers! They just want to sit in front of a tv or videogame and eat. How is that living? Not only are we killing our children from the mere fact that obesity does kill, but we're killing them because they're not living! They're holed up in front of the tv, not using their imaginations. Not learning, not having actual fun, not doing anything. And if they wanted to, how much play do you think they could accomplish with that excess fat weighing them down? Not much. And don't give me the line, "If I can't control my eating, how am I supposed to control theirs?" Because you're the PARENT and they are the CHILD. You are supposed to regulate their eating. You're supposed to teach them to eat healthy. It is just as easy to make a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich with carrot sticks as it is to get fast food. Personally, to me, fast food is evil. It's absolutely disgusting. I can't believe we are putting that into our bodies as well as our childrens. To me it seems that you take just one bite and you can feel your arteries clogging. Why are we feeding that filth to our children when we don't have to? Get a clue people, veggies and fruit aren't at all expensive when you buy what's in season. I could go on and on about this, but I won't. I'm just going to end this by telling people to be healthy. Teach your children to be healthy. Stop killing them and let them live. |
